Shawnee Preparedness and Response Coalition (SPARC) isn't just a Healthcare Coalition for Southern Illinois, SPARC is a "Whole Community Coalition". This means that we are dedicated to planning, preparing, responding, and recovering together as a community of organizations and individuals that recognize the necessity of working together to help each other during times of disaster and preparing for those times.
Our Mission
The Shawnee Preparedness and Response Coalition (SPARC) mission is to develop and maintain an integrated, diverse network of organizations in Southern Illinois in order to increase Planning, Mitigation, Response, Recovery and overall Resiliency in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.
Our Purpose
The primary purpose of this organization will be to promote collaboration in disaster and emergency preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery in Southern Illinois, both for its members organizations and for the whole community. SPARC consists of various organizations and represent the interests of multiple disciplines in the emergency preparedness team.
Collaboration
The coalition serves as a platform for introducing new ideas, methods, and technologies that can be leveraged to accomplish its mission. The formation of the coalition itself was sparked by innovative efforts to enhance collaboration between response partners in the community and the region, and break down existing silos. The coalition also takes an innovative approach by reaching across different regional boundaries and includes a diverse network or organizations that can work more effectively on shared goals and responsibilities. The coalition will continue to look for innovation ways to improve collaboration for a more prepared and resilient region.
